KITESURF COURSES

The courses we offer go from complete beginner through to advanced perfection courses and

vary in length so as to be able to offer you a formula that will fit the time you have available.

Courses are generally either 2 days or 5 days long but we do also offer 3 and 4 day when we have space.

For beginners you need to appreciate that whilst kitesurfing is not especially difficult to learn - definitely easier than windsurfing - it does require a certain amount of time and 2 days is more of a trial of the sport rather than a complete programme. You'll have the basic guidlines to the sport plus a taste of what it can offer but unless you're exceptionally talented don't expect to be a profficient kitesurfer in 2 days.

 On the other hand a 5 day course is a full basic training programme and our aim is that by the end of this course you are self sufficient . Many people achieve this. You can then continue to safely practise kitesurfing without the need of an instructor but of course there'll still be plenty to learn!

Advanced courses are varied according to the requirements of the participants but our instructors

are experienced and able to offer instruction ranging from simply mastering staying upwind to

jump's, wave riding  and many other advanced techniques.

A typical kite course runs as follows ;

0h-2h - Beach Start.  First kitesurf initiation – how to rig a kite, security rules, first kite flying either on the beach or in shallow water.

2h-4h – Kite Time -  Kite flying on the beach and in the water, body drag or buggy or mountain board.

4h-6h – Water Time – You now have good kite flying skills with 4 line kites, body drag left and right, relaunch the kite from the water, go upwind in body drag – your objective is to keep the kite in complete control and be able to come back to the beach or recuper the board whenever you want.

6h-8h Water Start – Your kite flying and body drag is now good - it’s time to take the board and to try your first water starts. It’s maybe the part the most important in the course and you need to have acquired some reasonable kite skills before it’ll all come together. Patience – everybody gets there in the end – some quicker than others but it’s worth the effort.

8h – 10h Board time – Water Start in both directions and more and more time on the board. What a pleasure and a sense of achievement ! You just want more and more…

10h -16h – Board riding – you’re not yet a pro but nearly ! An exaggeration maybe, there’s still a lot to learn but as soon as we start to spend several minutes in a row on the board we want only one thing – to go further and stay longer on the board. The objective is now to improve our kite flying skills and board skills at the same time. We also begin to go upwind and continue towards being self sufficient.

Obviously everybody progresses at different speeds so we adapt the courses accordingly – no need to be ashamed if you advance slower than the others – the importance is to enjoy yourself… at the same time we don’t slow down those that learn fast – without of course taking any short cuts and putting you in danger  - the golden rules of safety are very important.
